Note-2 pages are blank before this. VATEsvARA'S GOLA Vatesvara's Gola is found to occur towards the end of Ms. A. The existing text, besides being incomplete (five chapters only being available), is found in disarranged fragments. The sequence of these fragments is as follows : 1. Gollaprašanisā (complete in 7vss.). 2. Chedyakam (vss 1 to 7). 3. Golabandhah (vss. 17 to 28). 4. Gola vāsanā (vss. 1 to 11). 5. Chedyakam (vss. 8 to 15). 6. Golabandhah (vss. 1 to 13 and 14 to 16) 7. Golavāsanā (vss. 12 to 22). The following two fragments occur between vss. 55 and 56 of Chapter IV of Govinda's Supplement to Triprasnadhikara of the Vatesvarasiddhanta (occurring in Ms. A after Chapter VIII of the Vatesvarasiddhanta but not included in the present edition): 8. Golavāsanā (vss. 23 to 33). 9. Bhagolah (vss. 1 to 12). The existing text contains only the fragments of the following five chapters, the remaining chapters being lost : Golapraśaninsã (1), Chedivakam (2), Golabandhah (3), Golavāsanā (4), and Bhagolah (5). In editing the text of Vatesvara's Gola, attempt has been made to reconstruct these chapters by collecting together in proper sequence the various fragments of these chapters. Lalla's Gola has been of great help in doing this, as the arrangement of the chapters in Lalla's Gola and the sequence of the topics set out in those chapters have been closely followed by Vatesvara. One who makes a comparative study of Vatesvara's Gola and Lalla's Gola will be struck by the fact that the two works set out the same thing in practically the same sequence. Sometimes, the words used too are the same.
