समतां शशिलेखयोपयायदवदाता प्रतनुः क्षयेण सीता ।
यदि नाम कलङ्कः इन्दुलेखाम तिवृत्त लघयेन चाऽपि भावी ॥ ४० ॥

अपरीक्षित करिणा गृहीत त्वमनासेवितवद्धपण्डितेन ।
अविरोधितनिष्टुरेण साध्वीं दयितां नतुमलं घटस्व राजन्” ॥ ४१ ॥

स च चिह्नलसत्स्वसंकुलः परिशुष्यस्नभवन्महाहवः ।
परितः परितापमूच्छितः पतितं चाऽषु निरभ्रमीप्सितम् ॥ ४२ ॥

अथ लक्ष्मणतुल्यरूपवेशं गमनादेशविनिर्गतग्रहस्तम् ।
कपयोऽनुययुः समेत्य रामं नप्तसुग्रीवगृहीतसवराज्ञम् ॥ ४३ ॥

कपिपृष्ठगतौ ततो नरेन्द्र कपयश्च ज्वलिताग्निपिङ्गलाक्षः ।
मुमुचुः प्रययुर्हतं समीयुर्वसुधां व्योम महीधरं महेन्द्रम् ॥ ४४ ॥


 40. "If, indeed, a past or a future blot would not render the crescent of the moon lowly, then the pure and extremely slender Sita would attain a semblance to the crescent moon, on account of her waning.

 41. Oh King, exert yourself amply for rescuing your virtuous (and) beloved wife, kidnapped by one who acts without thought who is learned but (has) not served the elders, and who, (though) unoffended, is merciless.

 42. That huge lake (Rama), crowded with distressed creatures (distressed by his despondent spirit), had become completely dried up (emaciated ) ( being ) exhausted all around by the excessive heat (rendered unconscious by the heavy grief all around). And, just then, the desired water (news about Sita) came down without any clouds.

 43. Then, having assembled together, the monkeys marched behind Rama, whose form and dress were similar to Laksmana's, whose forearm was stretched out (to issue) the command for departure and whose order was accepted with respect by Sugriva who had bowed down (to him).
