[ 278 ] यजंते नामयज्ञैस्ते दंभेनाविधिपूर्वकम् ॥ १७॥ Self-sufficing, obstinate, filled with the pride and intoxication of wealth, they perform lip-sacrifices for ostentation, contrary to scriptural ordinance. (17) आत्मसंभाविता-आत्मना संभाविताः by self, glorified ; स्तब्धाः stubborn; धनमानमदान्विताः=धनस्य मानेन च मदेन च अन्विताः of wealth, by the pride, and, by the intoxication, and, filled; यजंते worship; नामयज्ञैः by nominal sacrifices; ते they; दभेन by hypocrisy; अविधिपूर्वकम् contrary to rule. अहंकारं बलं दर्प कामं क्रोधं च संश्रिताः । मामात्मपरदेहेषु प्रद्विषंतोऽभ्यसूयकाः ॥ १८ ॥ Given over to egoism, power, insolence, lust and wrath, these malicious ones hate Me in the bodies of others and in their own. (18) अहंकार (to) egoism; बलं (to) power; दर्प (to) insolence ; कामं (to) desire ; क्रोध (to) wrath; च and ; संश्रिताः refuged in; माम् me; आत्मपरदेहेषु = आत्मनः च परेषां च देहेषु of self, and, of others, and, in the bodies, ; प्रद्विषंतः hating; अभ्यसूयकाः carping ones. तानहं द्विषतः क्रूरान्संसारेषु नराधमान् । क्षिपाम्यजस्रमशुभानासुरीष्वेव योनिषु ॥ १९ ॥ These haters, evil, pitiless, vilest among men in the world, I ever throw down into demoniacal wombs. ( 19 )
