When the divine boar trembles, his follicles become darbha or Kusha - अग्निजिह्वो दर्भरोमा ब्रह्मशीर्षो महातपाः ।(Harivamsha purana 3.34.34 https://sa.wikisource.org/s/hu1 ). On the other hand, Kusha island has been stated to be situated in meat - कुशद्वीपः स्थितो मांसे क्रौञ्चद्वीपः शिरास्थितः ॥ (Garuda Purana 2.32.113 https://sa.wikisource.org/s/8hq). Straight view of the veins of Kusha grass in microscope picture support the follicle view. This follicle is not so simple. It has to perform all the functions of leaves of plant kingdom, viz. formation of food from sunrays. Peepal is symbolic of skin.
