 35. Pierced by Laksmana's arrows, Virupaksa was aban- doned by (his) life-breaths. Dvivida caused life-breaths to be given up by Asaniprabha.

 36. A mace was hurled by Indrajit ; the son of vali caught it. Thereafter Aigada, with a tree, battered his (Indrajits) chariot along with the horses.

 37. Having seen that deed of the son of Vali, the universe was wonderstruck, all the demons took fright and Raghava (Rama) held it in great esteem.

38 . Sugriva rejoiced, the gods, full of surprise, exclaimed, "Well done !' Vibhisana praised (him), and the monkeys applauded aloud.

 39. ‘‘Oh, wonder !' uttered by Laksmanpa and, Indrajit the son of Ravana, disappeared. Then Rama dispersed arrows ; the enemies took fright (felt distressed).

 40. Injured, they screamed horridly ; carnivorous beasts devoured the slain ; the blood of the wounded trickled (down); severed arms throbbed for a moment.
