PREFACE This Pada Index incorporates, in their own alphabetical order, all the padas in the form in which they have been registered as well as accounted for in the Padapatha-text of the Rgveda. VI The few innovations which have been introduced, evidently, towards effecting economy of space in entering the padas therein, without dislocating their alphabetical order, are as under : Į More than one verbal conjugational forms occurring in alphabetically consecutive sequence, are grouped in their alphabetical order, in the same paragraph, headed by the first of the saad forms, e g अर्केरम् युव arfand, wia, ged, at, ard 2. All nominal and adjectival declensional forms have been given under their respective stems (pratipadikas), which are marked off by a terminal hyphen, e gat-, 3 The nominal and adjectival declensional forms in baing given under their respective stems are short- ened with the initial portion of each being dropped, - under and- under - e g. 4 When more than one such declensional forms have to be given under the same stem they are grouped together in their alphabetical order in the same para- graph, and the terminal suffix is separated by avagraha when it is so permissible, cg. - दार्च एवे, शुन, गुरुभि under अनु अहम्, न मन् व॒यम् under अ॒स्मद् 5. Composite nominal adjectival stems and radical conjugational forms are shown, distinctively, in accor- dance with the Pada-text as such by means of avagraha sign between the compounds, cg श्रध्वनू, अ॒श्वा 6 When the aragraha between compounds of nominal and adjectival stems, is carried to the case termina- lions, and the stems are also provided with the same, e g घुसैनाडू नाचूडर्मि 7. When the Samlutapatha in its vowel-clongation or Sandid-change is at variance with the Padapatha, the
