FOREWORD
My friend and former pupil, Dr. Mangal
Deva Shastri, has put together what I am
sure will prove a very useful little book on
Essay-writing in Sanskrit. The majority
of the essays given as examples are written
by himself in an excellent natural style.
Others selected from standard authors or
from contemporary writers have been judi-
ciously chosen. At the end of the book there
are some useful collections of quotations
and pithy sayings that can be used to adorn
an essay or to provide subjects for others.
