number of sûtras expounded are thus left untouched,
for fear of interfering with the convenience of referring
to sûtras by the serial numbers given to them in this
book. I have, however, tried to expand by way of ex-
planation a condensed expression here and there.
I have now brought out a sequel to this book,
dealing with Vedic and Historical Grammar on similar
lines. The present volume will, therefore, be called
hereafter Part I of the Laghupâninîyam and the sequel
Part II of the same work.
