This has been elaborated in the sixth verse of the first chapter. A passing reference is made here. Objects are classed under two heads-existing (Sat) and non-existing (Asat). If one is to regard object as Sat, then it must be such (Sat) even before its origin, for an existing object always remains as such and can never be Asat (non-existing). So if an object is Sat before its existence, then it is futile to conceive its origin, for re-origin of existing objects like pot etc. is never noticed. Thus it is reasonable that an ever-existing (Sat) object has no origin (Utpatti). If we regard the object as non-existing (Asat) its origin cannot take place in any way, for as per our previous argument a non-existing object will remain non-existing for all time to come and cannot be Sat. The son of a son- less woman is its example. So the origin of an object of non-existing nature cannot take place. So origin of objects in reality cannot be proved. ॥20॥
