KENOPANISHAD-FOURTH KUIANDA 9 17 We have already taught you the important Upanisad that instructs you about Brahman. Therefore the important Upanişad has already been taught. If you wish to hear the Upanisad concerning the subsi. diaries (to the Brahma-vidya), I shall teach you. This is the idea. IV. B. TASYAI TAPO DAMAH KARNA CA PRATISTHA VEDAH SARVANGANI SATYADI JYATANAN. Austerity, Continence, and Action are the means for getting established (in Brahman). Vedas, (and) all its subsi. diaries, (and) truth, are Its abode. tasyai tapo damaḥ karma ca: The means of the Upanişad already described are tapas which means the emaciation of the body, the restraint of the organs and the performance of actions (such as Agnihotra etc.), (nityanaimittika). pratişthū : means of getting the Brahman's knowledge called Upanişad established. Vedān: The Vedas with their six subsidiaries and truth- speaking are the cause of birth of Brālımic knowledge. This is the meaning IV, 9. YO VA ETĀM VEDÄPALIATYA PAPMĀNAM ANANTE SVARGE LOKE JYEYE PRATITISTHATI PRATITIȘTHATI. Whoever knows this (Upanışad), shorn of his sins, establishes himself in the Svarga world, infinite and trans- cendent Etām: He who kuows this Brabman.knowledge with the pratişthā (means) and āyatana (abode) described already, shaking off all his sios gets established in the svarga-world that is, the Vaikuntha world, the most transcendeut, beyoud the limitations of time. This is the ineaning. Srargaluka : The term 'syargaloka' means the world of Bhagavān on account of co-mention with the words 'Infinite' and most transcendent.' -
