In none of on the available authoritative works the advaita systemMandanamisra is identified with Suresvara, while, in many Vedartic works of the Advaita and Dvaita schools, Mangana and Survbara are distinguished as two different advaitinsAs already pointed out, there is sufficient evidence 5 to show that Suresvara himself criticises some of the views put forward by Mandana in his Brahmasiddi. Sarvajiatmamuni and the commentators' on the Sainkspafariraha differentiate Mandana from Suresvara and draw attention to the fact that the former's prasthana is different from Shinkaraprasthana, while the latter closely , follows Sarikara. Prakasatman, in his Wiuarava 3B and Sahdirayea, '$ 1 vindicates the views of Padmapada and Sures-

Mandana with approval, he refers to him as the author ot the Brahasil and not as Suresvara. Anandabodha quotes extracts ** from the Brchua asiddh in many places in his Nyaya. Math.randy, accepts "" Mandana's views in some cases and criticises • them in cases where he prefers to adopt Suresvara's views; and Citsukha identifies all these eferences in his commenः tary 'k on the Myagdkarada, but nowhere identifies the author

of the Brahmasidd with the author of the Vrika. On the
