Po R E FA C E Papeikaranam is one of Sri Sushkara Bhagavatpada's prakarapas and, like the Daksihamirtl as taka, is very popular. The latter is the cream of advaita Vedanta, and the former elucidates the nature of samadhi and deep meditation on the prarava. The two works have several commentaries, and are held worthy of recitation thrice a day. Sivanarayana Tirtha emphasises this point in the concluding verses of his commentary: मुहुर्मुहुः प्रिर्यं शिष्ये संबोध्याह सुरेश्वरः । प्रमादस्तु न कर्तब्यः इयभिप्रत्य सादरम् । इमां विद्यां प्रयतेन योगी सन्ध्यासु सर्वदा । समभ्यसेनिंहामुत्र भोगानासक्तधीः सुधीः । There is another Pañerikaraņam in the Government Manus cript Library, Madras, (s). No 4636), a much later work composed by Abhinava Sadasivendra, a disciple of Ramacandrendra. The following are the commentaries on Bhagavatpada's Pañcikaraam :- 1. Pañcikaraņa Vārtika by Sri Sureśvarācārya. 2. Pacīkaraņa Vivaraņam by Āmandagiri (Ālandajiana) with a sub-commentary called Tattvacandrika by a disciple of Krsna Tirtha and Jagannātha Asrama. 3. Paīcikaraņa bhāva prakā sikā by Abhinava Nārāyaņendra. Pacikaraņa Vivaraņam by Prajānandayati 5. Papcikaraņa Vyākhyā (ārparya candrikā) by Rärmananda Sarasvati aud 6, Pāficikaraņa Vvākhyā (Atmānusādhana) gonnentator not known
