xvii The Advaitis claim that our author opined in favour of Vidyaranya and expressed the opinion by the verse मक्षोभ्यं क्षोभयामास विद्यारण्यो महामुनिः । The fame of our author' as a holy and pious Guru had spread far and wide, and requests were made to him by the pro-Vaishnavite chieftains of the Vijayanagar kingdom for simple treatises on the Vaishnava religion Sarvajnasimhanayak, a chief at Rajamundry, was one of such applicants. In compliance with his request, some simple treatises were written in the Vernacular and sent to him. The Subhashitanivi was also composed and sent to the same chief. In the last years of his long life, our author was requested to condense all his important teachings in a book in the Vernacular and he accordingly wrote his famous work 'Rahasyatrayasara'. He had lived up to a good old age and he looked forward to Death as one would eagerly wait for the arrival of a dear guest. He breathed his last in December of 1369 A.D. (the Tamil year Saumya) in his 102nd year. He like his friend Vidyaranya lived for more than a hundred years. The life of our author was an ideal one from the spiritual point of view. Ho inberited no property and earned none himself. He used to say नास्ति पित्रार्जितं किचिन मया किञ्चिदार्जितम् । अति मे हस्तिशैलाने वस्तु पैतामहं धनम् ॥
