V. 6.] PRASNOPANISHAD-BHASAYA 49 tasmāt parah. beyond that, that is, the pure soul, tasmāt api parabhūtam : one who is beyond that even, purisayan: One that rests in all creatures as their inner self, as stated in the passage "The creatures are the City of Him who lies in the caves of all persons" puruşam ikşate : the meaning is that he perceives the Lord Vāsudeva, the unconditioned meaning of the word 'Puruşa' as stated in the passage "The word Bhagavān and also the word Puruşa have got unconditional significauce in respect of the eternal Väsudeva." Consequently the view that the Brahmaloka in the passage sasāmabhir unniyate' refers to the world of Brahma (Satyaloka) is refuted, since to those that go there the perception of the Transcendent Väsudeva cannot happen." This can be seen. Tad: regarding the meditation on the Syllable (OM of three moments) etau ślokau: these (following) two verses : bhavatah : are read. This is the meaning. V. 6. Tisto mätra mýtyumantyaḥ prayuktā anyonyasakta anaviprayuktāḥ i kriyasu bahyabhyantaramadhjamāsu samyak prayuktasu na kampate jnah, The three moments if uttered together merging into one another or with much interval are those which bring about death. When the moments in actions inner and outer and middle are uttered well the knower will not fail. COMMENTARY. anaviprayuktah: an-a viprayuktah: very much disjoined anyonyasaktak: too close; that is if the syllable is uttered too closely because of extreme speed in uttering, or too disjointedly on account of too much interval between each moment tisro mātrāh: the three moments 7
