PRASNOPANISHYAD-BHASHYA IV. 1-2 FIFTH PRAŚNA v. 1 Atha hainam Saibyah Satyakamah papraccha, Sa yo ha vai tad Bhagavan manuşyesu prāya- nantam onkāram abhidhyāyita, katamam vāva sa tena lokam jayatiti. Tasmai sa hovāca. Then Saibya Satyakāma asked him (Pippaläda): "O Sire he who among men meditated on OM upto the end of his life, which world will he win by means of it!" To him he (Pippalāda) replied: COMMENTARY: Ha vai: indicates well-knownness sah: The pronoun sah refers to the fit-person in general Bhagavan: 0 one fit for adoralion (or worship) yaḥ: which fit person manusyeşu : among men prāyaṇāntam , upto the time of death Onkāram abhidh yayita ; will meditate on the syllable OM sah: he katamam lokam: which world tena: by means of that syllable jayati: wins, attains. vāva : indicates emphasis or well-knowniess. V. 2. Etad vai Satyakama param cãparam ca brahma yad onkārah! Tasmad vidvan etenaivāyatan naikataram anveti, It is omkāra O Satyakama which is the brahman superior and inferior, Therefore the knower by this means follows takes to one of them COMMENTARY: O Satyakāma : etad eva: this itself param cäparam ca Brahma : is the superior as well as the inferior Brahman. The meauing is that it signifies both
