24 PRASNOPANISEAD-BHASHYA [II. 9-10. II 9. Indras tvam prāna tejasā rudro'si pari. rakṣitā 1 Team antarikse carasi sūryas tvam jyotişām patih. I Thou art Indra, O Breath! thou art the Rudra by his power (tejas), (and) the protector. Thou movest in the atmosphere, thou art the Sürya lord of luminaries. COMMENTARY: Indras tvam: 0 Breath you are indra, "The supreme Lord' is the meaning, since the root is 'idi to lord over absolutely.' tejasā: with power of the form of ability to slay all tvam Rudrah: you are He who causes (all) to weep Parirakşitā: means you are also the protector during the creative period (sthiti-kāla). Tvam antarikse : you becoming the Sun. the highest among the luminaries, move in the sky. II. 10. Yadā tvam abhivarşasyathemāḥ präna te prajah: Anandarūpās tisthanti kāmāyānnam bhavi. şyatiti. I When thou rainest then O Breath, these thine creatures remain joyful (with the hope) that there will be food to their heart's content. COMMENTARY: Yada tvam: 0 Breath, when you having the form of clouds shower rain then these your creatures become blissful. For what reason ? Kāmāya : for there will be food enongh for performing) disired things; since it is stated in the Chandogya Up. (VII. 10. I). “Whenever there is good rain then the creatures become blissful hoping that there will be plenty of food."
