VI. 1.) PRASNOPANISĦAD-BHASHYA 56 SIXTH PRAŠNA VI 1. Atha hainam Sukeśa Bharadwajah papraccha. Bhagavan Hiranyanabhah Kausalyo rāja- putro män upetyaitam praśnam aprechata. Sodasakalam Bhäradvāja puruşam vettha. Tam aham kumāram abruvam, nāham imam veda yadyaham imam avedişam katham te nāvaksyam iti. Samulo va esa parisusyati yo'nytam abhivadati. Tasmannārhämyanr- tam vaktum. Sa tūsnim ratham aruhya pravavraja. Tam tvā prcchami kvāsau puruşa iti. Then Sukesī Bhāradvāja asked him (Pippalãda) 'O Sire, Prince Hiranyanäbha, king of Kosala, approaching me asked this question: "Do you know Bhäradvāja, the person with sixteen parts?" I told him the young man) this 'I do not know him.' If I knew this how could I not tell you ? He who speaks untruth indeed dries up with his roots. fore it does not become me to speak untruth. COMMENTARY : Atha hainam... ... : Then Sukeśa Bhāradvāja addressed him (Pippalāda) : 'O Sire, Prince Hiranyagānabha by name, ruling over Kosala coming to me asked me the following question. 'O Bhāradvāja, do you know the person who has the sixteen parts beginning with 'breath' and ending with 'name'. This is the meaning. aham kumāram: I replied to that Prince thus ; I do not know that person. If I know, for what reason should I not tell you, a prince and a fit disciple. He who utters untruth his roots dry up entirely. That is, all the merit that is the cause of good results will perish.
