He, being all, perceives all that have been seen and not-seen, heard and the not-heard, experienced and not- experienced, and the existent and the nonexistent, COMMENTARY: atra: here, in this state (of dream) eşa devah: This soul svapne : in dream mahimānam: greatness in possessing elephants, horses etc. anubhavati: experiences. drtam: what was seen during the waking state the Same one sees again in dream. dystam drštam: frequently seen is the meaning Śrutam: heard deśa: things experienced daily in other places and in other directions he again and again experiences. There is no rule that only things that were seen and heard are experienced in dreams. At times things that were never experienced such as cutting of one's own body are experienced. saccasacca: existent and non-existent sarvah paśyati : being all one perceives; one, being the seer, bearer and the smeller, the goer, speaker and the rest, experiences, this is the meaning. The idea is though at that time of dream) all the organs of sense and action which function during the waking state are inactive, still one, becoming the seer etc., with the help of the body and organs created by Išvara in dream-state, experiences IV. 6.
