- P. 92, 1. 7.-बरदारोधोवृक्षेः The Varadhâ is the modern Wurda, a tributary of the Godâvarî. The whole verse means, that while
- the king was enjoying the spring on the banks of the Vidiśâ,
- his armies, encamped on the banks of the Varadâ, subjected the
- chief of the Vidarbhas to his dominion.

- P. 92,1 .9.—विरचितपदं &c. It is also possible to take सुरोपम and सूरिभिः as separate words and refer the former to the king-चरितम्
- &c. Construe: क्रथकैशिकान् मध्येकृत्य स्थितं (यद् ) उभयोश्चरतं ( त)
- विरचितपदम् (अस्ति): where विरचितपदं is the predicate. विरचितपदं means, ‘is celebrated by song; ‘is made the subject of panegyric, ‘विरचितानि पदानि पद्यानि यस्मिंस्तत्.' It is, perhaps, equally
- correct to take स्थितं with विरचितपदं, and to consider it as a mere
- copula. क्रथकैशिकान् मध्येकृत्य, “ making the Krathakaiśikas the
- middle; i. e., putting them as it were in the middle, and the two
- heroes, Krishna and Agnimitra, on the two sides, they sing of
- their exploites, which were both achieved over the Krathakais'ikas.
- Shortly we may render क्रथकैशिकान्मध्येकृत्य by, ‘over the Krathakaiśikas' The Krathakaiśsikas are the same as Vidarbhas. See
- our note on Raghuvamśa V., stanza 39-तव and शौरेः are
- together exegetical of उभयोः Supply हतवतः after शौरेः. On the

- take • जअसद्द' to refer to the panegyric stanzas • परभूत” &c.
- and " विचिदं→→ &c. sung by the bards as the King left his
- throne.
- P. 92, 1. 13.—जअसहसूइदपथ्थाणो. 'The जअसइ, here referred to, is the

- this arch of the terrace.' मुहालिन्द is the terrace or veranda at
- the first entrance of the palace, and the मुहालिन्दतोरण is an arch
- cut into the wall adjoining such a terrace.
