There is a commentary on this Prahasana by Narayana of Kerala, a student of the well-known Narayanabhattatiri and it is called 'Dinmatradarsini' (Kerala and Sanskrit Literature by K. K. Raja, P. 48) It was with the help of this commentary that Sri Sastri had edited the corrupt manuscript of this Prahasana, restoring many lost lines and giving Samskruta-chaya of the Prakrit passages. According to Narayana this is a kind of allंegorical play depicting the doctrines of Yoga. He says:-

अस्मिन् नाट्यरसे निसर्गगहने योगीन्द्रशिष्यावुभौ
अात्मानौ परजीवभेद कथितावन्या तथैवाज्जुका ॥
मूलाधारसमुद्गता ससुषिरा नाडी सुषुम्ना परे ।
चेत्यौ चोभयपार्श्वगे ससुषिरे नाड्याविडापिङ्गले ।
अविद्या गणिकामाता मोहो रमिलको मतः ।
वैद्यौ हि कल्प-संकल्पौ कालस्तु यमपूरुषः ॥

'In this play of deep meaning Yogendra and his disciple rep-
resent Paramatman and Jivatman: Ajjuka represents Sushumna
nadi while her two friends Stand for Ida and Pingala-nadis. Her
mother and her paramour, Ramilaka represent Avidya and Moha
respectively. The two physicians represent Sankalpa (perception)
and Vikalpa (doubt) while the Yamabhata stands for Time.'

Even without going into the allegorical depths of meaning
one can enjoy reading or witnessing the play for its mere plot and
engaging action just as there are thousands of people today who
change overnight their 'Isms' and faiths just for the advancement
of their personal ambitions and in the words of Sri Sastri, "just
as there were People who were being lured by the preachings and
the Churches of the Christian Missionaries 50 years ago" ( i e. 100
