P. 114. L. 2. Then enters Charudatta, love-sick and on a seat.
P. 114. L. 4-7 (Verse 1). This untimely cloudy day, gazed at (delightfully) by the domesticated peacocks having their tails erect and expanded and discarded by the swans, uneasy and desirous of departure, suddenly obstructs the sky as well as the heart of the longing one simultaneously. [यिथासु.] Desiderative of the root या.-[कलाप.] Plumage of a peacock. 'कलापो भूपणे बहें तूणीरे संहतापि'-अमरः:-[दुर्दिनम्म] मेथच्छन्नेहि दुर्दिनम्'--अमरः---[अपाकृत]- निरस्तम् abandoned. Metre बसन्ततिलकम्. For आलोकितं &c. and हंसर्यियासुभिः of.--

These two are कविसमय i. e. conventions of poets. Vis'vanatha enumerates them thus in the Sahitya D. VII. 590-591.

मालिन्यं व्योन्नि पापे यशसि धवलता वर्ण्यते हासकीर्त्योः |
-[शिक्षण्डिन्]-Tufted, erested-peacock. 'शिखण्डो बईडयो'.
P. 114. L. 9-12. The cloud, dark like black beo and wet belly of a buffalo, furnished with the yellow upper-garment of lustre of lightening and having a conch shell in the form of collection of cranes, shines like a second Vishnu ready to measure the atmospheric regions. वसन्ततिलक वृत्तम्, उपमालङ्कारश्चा-[जलाई जलासैरभोदरं भृशश्च तद्वनीलः कृष्णवर्ण:-सिंहस०]-संहसः पुश्रीभूतः बलाको चकः स एव शलो गृहीतो इससे येम स. खाक: also written--बलाका-Akind of crane.-[केशवः-वामनरूपधारी नारायण:--Vishnu's Dwarf-incarnations "केतको माधयः स्त्रभूः" &e.-अमरः. See-~-"इदं विष्णुर्विच क्रमे धा निदधे पद०". &c.--Yajus, also see Rigveda I. 154 and Nirûkte 12.18.
