of that noble one. This vile act generates shame in me, otherwise what harm can the (poor) king inflict upon rogues like myself ?
S'arvilaka says that he could at once proceed thither but for remorse. He was not at all afraid of the king. He was proof for him.-[कथयसि०]-Mention of his magnanimity shamed him very much.--[साहसे]-प्रतिनिर्यातने-In giving him the ornaments.-- [किं नु.]--न किमपि. Metre-मालिनी-ननमयययुतेयं मालिनी भोगिलोलोकैः ॥
P. 95. L. 2-3 (Verse 21). I have gained profound wisdom by obeying you. When there is no moon in the night then the guide is difficult to be obtained. अनुष्टुप् Measure, Rhetorical figure प्रतिवस्तूपमा. Visvanātha-प्रतिवस्तूपमा सा स्यात् याक्ययोर्गम्यमानयोः । एकोऽपि धर्मः सामान्यो यत्र निर्दिश्यते पृथक् ॥ Såhityadarpana X. VI. 97.
P. 96. L. 14-15 (Verse 22). Indeed man must always strive after merits, as indigent equipped with excellencies is far superior to the rich without virtue (lit, is not equal to).-[इक्ष्वरः-] Rich, wealthy (ईश् + वरच्). 'इभ्य आढ्यो धनी स्वामी ईश्वरः पतिरीशिता'-अमरः- Metre अनुष्टुप्. This verse occurs in the Subhashitaratnabhånlågåra.
P. 96. L. 17-18 (Verse 23). Man must endeavour to possess virtue--nought is beyond its reach. The moon on account of her superior merits got on the high forehead of Mahadeva.-[उडुप] Moon (उडु+पा)-the guardian of the stars. 'उडुपश्चन्द्रमेलयो', इति धरणिः. उडु:- a star. अवति इति : किर, ऊठौ, हस्त्रो नपुंसके (१।२।४७) इति हस्थाउयतेई ॥ उच्च तडुच इति विग्रहः स्त्रियां ऊश्च डुश्च or उ क्रोधं डयते उना शंभुना हीयते.-[अलङ्घथ.] Not to be trodden or transgressed- [उल्लङ्घितम्] Transgressed or passed over the insuperable head of Shiva. विशेषण सामान्यसमर्थनरूपोऽर्थान्तरन्यासः. उपेन्द्रवज्रा वृत्तं--उपेन्द्रवज्रा प्रथमे लघौ सा .This verse is cited in the Subhashitaratnabbândagêra. Survey and salute your benefactress ( lit. this personage ) through whom you obtained the inaccessible covering of the title of wife. अनुष्टुप् Measure.--वधूशब्दावगुण्ठनम्]-वधूशब्द एवावगुण्ठनमावरणम् -The covering in the form of the title of a bride i.e. the dignity and respect waiting upon that title.
