- लदापासेण बन्धिअ गेण्ह एणं बम्हणं दुव्विणीकण्णाअं अग्गदो करेहि" &c.
- (P. 46, 1, 19 et seqq . Calc. Ed. Sam. 1921.)-कपोदो. This word
- is still preserved in the Konkaņî कौडो or कवडो, the spotted dove.
- P.86,1.10–उभिण्णो दुगप्पओओ. This seems to mean: ’this rogue of
- a Brahman himself concocted and carried out the design of taking
- the fortress, i.e., of liberating Mâalavikâ and her friend from the
- safe custody of Mâdhavikâ. All our MSS, and also G, have दुग्ग.
- G reads, however,ऒछ्छिण्णो for उभ्भिण्णो.
- P.86,1.10–उभिण्णो दुगप्पओओ. This seems to mean: ’this rogue of
- P.86,1.13.—G has " णं मए अत्तभवं पवेसिदो हवे," for तदो गाअत्तिंपि &c.
- P.87,1.12. -सपख्खो, your friend, your caste-fellow: Vidûshaka
- means,that the Storm which was going to burst on his own head was
- averted by the monkey, who, by frightening the girl Vasulakshmî,
- made Irâvatî to forget her revenge and to tell the king to depart,
- and thus to give him an opportunity of leaving the place without
- further trouble. Vidûshaka is not only regarded by others as
- belonging to the fraternity of animals, but even he himself does
- so in keeping with his character as a buffoon. Cf. Vikramorvaśî
- Act V, “किंति मे सङ्कदि । अस्समं परिदो परिचिदा एदस्स सासामिआ."-
