He - ვ67r8ვ8 4I40E26 Hence, the Great Bear must have been in the Magha, r3 years and 2 months after the commencement of Yudhishthira's reign. This factdetaands careful consideration on thepart of learned scholars. Varahamihira has only approximately calculated that the Great Bear was in the Magha in the beginning of Yudhishthira's reign. Further on, he has also roughly calculated by way of practical methods of calculation (karana). that the Great Bear passed through one nakshatrain a hundred solar years; for dividing I972,944653, the number of years from the beginning of the Kalpa to the beginning of Yudhishthira's reign, we get I9729446 nakshatras (neglecting the fraction), through which the Great Bear must have passed from the beginning of the Kalpa to the beginning of Yudhishthira's reign, and dividing this result by 27, we get 6 as remainder, which shows that the Great Bear was in the Punarvasu in the commencement of Yudhishthira's reign, but this is unacceptable by deducto ad absurdum. There are 57859 x 129 fooo seconds in the number of revolutions of the Ayanagraha in a Kalpa. Dividing this by the number of solar years in Kalpa, we get the motion in seconds 578I59 x 12963oo of th ܡ e Ayanagraha in a solar year to be 4320.000000 734,477 . . . . τoooo ο ε73".4477. But this isa most impossible value of the motion of the Ayanagraha. Hence, according to many astronomers, instead of a enders a better reading, where is given the number of revolutions of the Ayanagraha in a Kalpa.
