डुढौकिरे पुनलंडू बुबुधे तन्वशाननः।
जीवतश्च विवेदारीन बशेऽसौ धतेस्ततः ॥ ७१ ॥

सम्रसे शरबधेन दिव्येनेति बबन्द सः ।
बभाजाऽथ परं मोहमूहाञ्चक्रे जयं न च ॥ ७२ ॥

धूम्राक्षोऽथ प्रतिष्ठासञ्चने रावणसम्मत ।
सिंहास्यैर्युयुजे तस्य वृकास्यैश्च रथः खगैः॥ ७३ ॥

त्वयत्नैः संविव्यथुर्देहान् वाहनान्यधिशिश्यिरे ।
आनर्जुनृभुजोऽस्त्राणि ववञ्चुश्चाहवक्षितिम् ॥ ७४ ॥

अध्युवास रथं, तेये पुराच्चुक्षच चाऽशुभम् ।
संभावयाञ्चकाराऽऽख्यां धूम्राक्षस्तत्वरे तथा ॥ ७५ ॥


mountains (and) trees and ran about ; then they longed for a fight.

 71. They again invaded Lanka ; Ravana recognised them and realised that the enemies were alive ; thereupon he swerved from his fortitude.

 72. He heard that the divine bonds of the arrows had slipped off; he then took to extreme delusion and did not expect victory.

 73. Thereafter, permitted by Ravana, Dhumraksa intended to march out ; his chariot was yoked with beasts fying in the sky which had mouths of lions or foxes.

 74 . The cannibals covered (their) bodies with armour, ascended vehicles, picked up missiles and proceeded to the battle-field.

 75. Dhumraksa ascended (his) chariot, went out of the city and sneezed inauspiciously; he also announced his name and made haste.
