Prof. Kern of Lesiden has laid me under deep obligation by revising the last proof. A German metrical but literal translation of this text will shortly be published by Mr. L. Fritze, already well known by his version of the Hitopadesa as an able and elegant translator of Sanskrit works. [This appeared at Schloss-Chennitळ, 1877.] My edition was finished on the 3oth of March, 1875, and I have not since then altered a single word in deference to the criticisms of any other scholar.
