Is tumble but the ground is not miry or muddy, my loft eye throbs and my left arm trembles repeatedly, still that bird screamy again and again, (These all) presage eruel death there is no doubt in that.---[जिसिताक्ष्मातकुक्षिः]-- जिधितो वक्रितः आध्मातः स्फीतश्च कुक्षिर्यस्य--whose middle is coiled and puffed up.-[शकुनिरपर] Vulture or owl. हरिणी Metre. "समरसलागः पड्वेदैईयैहरिणी मता.' For these bad omena cf. auguries mentioned in tho Valmiki Râmiyaņa at the final march of Ravana against Råma..*** चास्फुरद्वामं वामो बाहुरकम्पत.' &c. &c. p. 152, (Yuddha Kanda,) Bombay Edition. The harsh notes of a crow portend dire calamity. So do his cries when he faces the sun and perches on a blighted tree. Cf. S'árngadharapaddhati 2671 and 2673 Verses, also Brihatsamlita..... 'दारुणनादस्तरुकोटरोपगो वायसो महाभयदः। ऐन्द्रशादिदिगवलोकी सूर्याभिमुखो स्वत् गृहे गृहिणः । राजभयचोरबन्धनकलहाः स्युः पशुभयं चेति । छिन्नाग्रेऽङ्गच्छेदः कलहः शुकदुमस्थिते ध्वाङ्के ।' Brihat, S. pp. 360, 61, 64, Calcutta Edition, Snake coming in front forbodes similar miseries. Tots- भिमुखागमोऽरिसङ्ग कथयति बन्धवधात्ययश्च यातुः ibid. Also Vasantaraja- s'akuna- 'वामोतिरोगं कुरुते विशुष्के तिक्ते च वृक्षे कलिकार्यनाशौ।' &c. Throbbing of the left eye and arma is also ominous. Cf. S'ârn- gadharapaddhati, p. 373. "वामस्याधः स्फुरणमसकृत्सारे भजन्हेतु- स्तस्यैवोद्धं हरति नितरां मानसं दुःखजालम् । नेत्रोपान्ने हरति च धनं नेत्रकोणे च बन्धु सव्ये चैतत् फलमविकलं व्यत्ययं चापसव्ये ॥ दक्षिणमङ्गं पुंसः स्त्रियाश्च वाम शुभावहं स्फुरितं । नीचोचमध्यमात्रः फलसि च गात्रोचितः स्पन्दः।" Stumbling also forbodes evil. The court appears to be an ocean, the councillors engulfed in deep thoughts are the waters, envoys, the surges and conches, and the spies, sitting around, are the monsters of the deop.
